Labor Day.
No work. Just play.
To me, it’s a day to create your own life. To do what you love. To connect with your heart.
Yes, there are other meanings associated with the history of this holiday in the states. About service. About labor. About having to work hard to get what you want in life.
But I don’t believe you have to work hard to get what you want.
Yes, you have to take action. But it doesn’t need to be difficult.
You see, when you’re in alignment, manifesting can be quite easy. It’s all about being in the flow.
And it all comes back to play.
You have to feel good to attract the right things to you.
When you’re in a creative playful state, that’s when new ideas come to you…
BIG Ideas that will shift things entirely for your life. Business ideas, thoughts about travel, where you might meet your new soulmate or your mentor. You never know what adventures are waiting for you when you let yourself be in the moment.
Just today I was on a bike ride with my daughter. We were on our way home when I rode passed the entrance to Prospect Park. My daughter made gestures to me to turn around (She’s a year and a half.) She wanted to ride in the park. But that was out of the way. Instead of being the mom who would typically say, ‘No’ because it was late and I wanted to get home the quickest route, I decided to go with the flow. It would be fun!
So I turned the bike around and we entered the park. Not minute went by before we heard the beat of drums coming from the distance. As we got closer to the sound, I realized it was Sunday – the big Drum Circle day in the park where hundreds of people gather to drum and dance. I had never taken my daughter here. And I had always wanted to go! So we pulled up on our bike and stopped to listen. She was loving it. I asked her if she wanted to get off the bike and dance. She said yes, and so we did.
It was so much fun. We only stayed about 15 minutes before heading home. But that brief break to dance and just be amongst that beautiful energy shifted things for me. I was no longer concerned about making it home on time. No longer did I worry about writing this blog post. I relaxed into the ride and so enjoyed just being in the park. It was quiet away from the usual noise of the city. I was back in nature. And I got to share all of that with my daughter. Had I not been in the flow, we would have missed out on this beautiful experience.
Being in the flow is about listening to those ideas that come – and then taking action.
And then feeling good about having taken that action so that you want to take more action. Small steps. But damn, it feels good to be going after what you love. What you truly desire. And you TRUST that it’s going to happen. You can SEE the end result.
That’s the magic of it. Trusting the process. Envisioning the end result. Feeling good about the small steps you’re taking now. And enjoying each moment because the present is all that you have.
Practice being happy now.
This labor day, I invite you to connect with your inner child. PLAY.
See where the wind takes you. And enjoy the moment.
Be present with your play. Don’t think about what you need to do. Be spontaneous. Open up to the adventure. See what shows up – who you end up meeting – what experiences you end up having.
Savor each moment.
This is all part of the manifesting process.
Here are 7 Indulging Ways to Spend this Labor Day:
1. Look up what activities are going on in your local community and go to one! If you’re alone, strike up a conversation with a stranger. Start it with a compliment. If you’re with your family, soak in each moment.
2. Turn off your phone for an hour. Then take a walk/run or bike ride in your local park. (You can bring your phone with you for safety. But try to keep it off!)
3. Invite friends over for a meal, or go to a friend’s house who’s hosting one. Talk about your dreams. Ask about their greatest travel experiences. Then talk about where you want to go and what adventures you want to have next. Share your next big idea.
4. Eat your favorite food. Go to your favorite restaurant, or make your favorite smoothie. Food is a simple pleasure.
5. Journal. Especially if you haven’t in a while.
If you don’t have a journal practice, start with a gratitude list.6. Take a bath. Light a candle. Put on your favorite music. Relax. It’s your day!
7. Go to a bookstore and see which books you’re drawn to. Buy one. Start reading it!
Labor Day = Spontaneous Play.
I would love for you to report back here in the comments below any synchronistic meetings or a-ha moments you have. We can all benefit from your experiences.
Enjoy.
PS. If you want to have fun adventures with me, stay tuned because I’m going to make a big announcement next week.
